Map & Compass Orienteering Workshop
Ernie Miller Nature Park
September 22, 2007

There were 13 participants in the Map & Compass Orienteering Workshop at Ernie Miller Nature Park on Saturday, September 22, 2007. The beginner clinic was hosted by Johnson County Park and Recreation District and taught by members of Possum Trot Orienteering Club, Dick Neuburger and Paul Clatterbuck. There were a couple of novice adventure racers and 4 members of the Civil Air Patrol from Harrisonville, MO in the group.

It was a beautiful morning, temperature about 80 with clear skies. The new orienteers learned about maps, how to use the magnetic compass, and some elementary navigation techniques. They then participated in a practice White level orienteering course.

We hope everyone enjoyed the day and will come to our future events.
