Shawnee Mission Meet 1/11/09
What a great meet, Ole Man Winter held off just a bit on Sunday 1/11/09.
I had gone out over the Holidays and marked potential control sites for the meet.
With Richard Neuburger’s help we printed the map and clue sheet in a very nice format.
The controls were gathered and placed on Saturday with the help of Mike, Nancy, Dick and Brett the Chocolate Lab.
Sunday dawned bright and clear, the final few controls were placed and the day was off and running. We had printed 105 maps and clues. By the time everything was over we had all of eight left.
What a beautiful day in January. We had several groups of JROTC, along with our regulars and many new faces.
Due to the potential bad weather in January I had designed a one hour Score-O with a mass start. The finish line chute was set up to handle the masses. Many VERY willing hands jumped in to help with the finishing and results duties. We offer great thanks to these many along with those that also went back out to retrieve the course controls. A special thanks to Rita Roe for helping with registration, even when she was not feeling quite up to par.
I could not have hoped for a better group of willing folks. With your help PTOC offered up another outstanding meet enjoyed by all attending.
Many thanks and see you all again next time.
